The Subritzky Group also owned Gulf Trans Ltd (1989), which serviced Great Barrier Island and Waiheke Freight. Subritzky Shipping started in 1960 since then the company has provided essential services in the Hauraki Gulf. The Subritzky's have a long history of shipping in New Zealand one of their first vessels was the Jane Gifford now moored at the National Maritime Museum.

In September 2004, the companies were acquired by Kangaroo Island SeaLink, a leading South Australian tourism company. The company moved into tourism in September 2005 with the launch of a comprehensive holiday programme for Waiheke and Great Barrier islands. In December 2005 the company was re-branded as SeaLink. This strategy was designed to align the company with its Australian owners; to capitalize on the reputation of the SeaLink name and to maximize the results of the company’s international marketing programme.
