My former partner in Arklow Peter Spencer and his brother John have land there, you know them. In 1997 I purchased two properties behind the shops in Oneroa from partners of Adrian Chisholm.
Others you should be focusing on are the Mongrel Mob and their very serious issues. The leaders of Ngai Terangi and their accountant appear to have run off with about $60m which should have gone to the tribe. And the Mob and the Black Power want the Iwi's money back. I have been encouraging them to sit tight and observe Arklow's effort to bring them to account. Rex Mainey (Matakana Island Taikato-his uncle Marsh died in my arms and I was the only pakeha to talk at his tangi),(founding member President Aotearoa), Fats ( Sergeant of Arms), Blue Kuka (Matakana) and the other members unnamed are 'mad as snakes and keen as mustard' to get this matter sorted out. The Arklow site is part of that process. Blue Kuka's sister I refer you to- In early March 1993 local Maori rights activist's Sonny Tawhiao and Christine Kuka laid a large log on the road stopping the new owners (Far Financial, ITT, E1) of Matakana Island from carrying out any logging. They claimed on behalf of their tribes under the instruction of the leadership Ngai Te Rangi, that the Iwi should be the owners of Matakana Island saying Matakana land was sacred and priceless to Maori. They got the land but the leaders put it in their own company. In 1998 Sonny Tawhiao suspected the tribal leadership were trying to get what they could for themselves. He called Wingate seeking information and was provided with documents on what the tribes leadership were up to. Sonny Tawhiao began to lobby his people. In July 1999 Mr Tawhiao's body was found in the back seat of his car in the Matakana forest. It appears certain people wanted to stop Sonny from talking about what the leadership were up to and the Privy Council case was months away. The police report written by the son in law of the Iwi accountant (12.5% shareholder) suggested his death was suicide. The police report suggested Sonny Tawhiao drove into the Matakana forest got into his back seat and set himself on fire.The police report was written by the Iwi accountant's son in law. With a dying child I am in no mood to negotiate.Think clear and ask around. We are this week.

Hack: [[Concept Digital]] still sounds a bit like an ad to me ... and I was wondering whether we might come up with a category for things like this, something like "Needs Editorial Review" .. but that doesn't sound like the right label -- i'm reticent of the idea of an 'editorial overseer'; but at least something that allows you and other people who are interested in reviewing content like this to be able to look at a single category to see what needs attention. Tihare is a company director and IT consultant and the man behind the Waihekepedia idea. (thanks Hack Tihare 21:22, 31 August 2007 (NZST))

The concept of Waihekepedia came out of my wife (Pickle) and I feeling disappointed with the number of great waiheke URL's either sitting going nowhere or promotional sites pretending to be information sites.

I chose and registered www.waihekepedia.com preferring the .com over .org etc because, and I'll admit freely, the similarity to [www.wikipedia.com] We also registered www.wikipedia.co.nz as it must be noted that New Zealanders have a tendancy to search .co.nz so there you have it.

The mechanics were put together by Cletus. Bruced customised the mediawiki program, Blank designed the logo and Hackademic provideseditorial direction.

None of us profess to being experts in this and I am really pleased with progress so far.
