Olivier Duhamel (born 1957) is a Waiheke artist specialising in graphite pencil sketches and sculptures of nudes, but with a range extending well beyond that.
Duhamel was born in France, where he met his wife. They moved to New Caledonia, then to Tahiti, and again to New Zealand in the mid 1980s. Their first child was born in Tahiti, and two more in Auckland. Duhamel was a software engineer and later a manager for large American software companies.
Regular visitors to Waiheke since 1987 the family moved there permanently in 2003 allowing Duhamel to concentrate on his art. He is a member of the Catherine Mitchells Life Drawing group.
Duhamel is colour-blind, and therefore expresses himself in media that do not require colour.
He has had several exhibitions at the Waiheke Community Art Centre and in Auckland City, and one in Sydney. His sculptures are represented Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne and Paris.
