The station is solely run by volunteers and makes no money. Can hardly be considered "commercial" in the sense that other businesses on the island are. Countrymike 09:39, 11 September 2007 (NZST)
Maybe so, it does however file a tax return, pay rent and have an advertising rate card, therefore it is a commercial venture. It's business processes and whether it is profitable do not come in to play. It is in essence commercial. We discussed this on the boat this morning. Tihare 11:24, September 11, 2007 (NZST)
It's also in essence a volunteer organisation, so do we need a category for that as well? I think my issues is that the category "commercial" doesn't really do much to assist the project as a whole. It doesn't strike me as that useful a designation for the wiki. Countrymike 11:31, 11 September 2007 (NZST)
Given that everyone involved in the operation of the station (other than Barry arguably) is a volunteer I think it would be appropriate to add Clubs and Organisations as a category.
I was working on the basis that it was a business and as such te commercial category should include businesses. The other point is that it is using a commercial radio frequency. That is onepoint that will set it apart from a community station. Tihare
Chris: I think we should mention the archival function that the radio is starting to perform, particularly in light of your use of Archive.org. You can use this url: http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=waiheke%20AND%20mediatype%3Aaudio%20AND%20collection%3Aopensource_audio to pretty much list all of the shows/interviews that you'e put up.
