Waiheke Marketplace is a community newspaper published every Wednesday, and delivered to Waiheke homes. It is also distributed on the ferries, in Downtown Auckland and at island businesses and tourism outlets. It has a Property Lifestyle pullout section and, along with the news, does regular features on summer events, festivals and anything else happening on Waiheke Island. Waiheke Marketplace was first published in May 1998. It was begun by Isobel Hawley and Jo Holmes as an A4 pamphlet printed on a Risoh machine. It grew over the years until Fairfax Media bought it from publisher Jo Holmes in August 2008 to add to its stable of Suburban Newspapers.
