Waiheke Island Historic Village
Located at 169 Onetangi Rd by the Waiheke Golf Club, the Waiheke Island Historic Village is run by the Waiheke Island Historical Society Inc. It is open all year from 12:00 - 4:00 pm. Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday and on Public Holiday Mondays.

The Museum is marked by signs that incorrectly state "Museum 500 metres". The signs are in fact 500 metres apart and the Museum is halfway between them. The number 1 bus (Onetangi) stops in front of the Museum.
The Museum consists of five main buildings: the Woolshed (which had to be reconstructed after a 1997 fire) and four cottages in the style of Waiheke baches of the 1930s-1950s. The main historical exhibits are in The Woolshed; the cottages contain period rooms, photo exhibits, archives and meeting rooms. There is also the original detention cell built in the 1940s for the Oneroa Police Station.
The Woolshed houses the main displays, the information desk and a small shop selling crafts, souvenirs and books on local history.
Membership meetings are usually held at 6:30 PM on the first Wednesday of the month. There is generally a speaker and/or a theme topic. Further information can be had at the Historical Society's website
History
In the mid 1990s a spectacular fire before dawn destroyed an historic building at the historical village. Community fundraising saw a new building replace it.
