Located at 169 Onetangi Rd, the Waiheke Island Historic Village is run by the Waiheke Island Historical Society Inc. It is open Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 - 4:00 pm.
The Museum is marked by signs that incorrectly state "Museum 500 metres". The signs are in fact 500 metres apart and the Museum is halfway between them. The number 1 bus (Onetangi) stops in front of the Museum.
The Museum consists of five main buildings: the Woolshed (which had to be reconstructed after a 1997 fire) and four cottages in the style of Waiheke baches of the 1930s-1950s. The main historical exhibits are in the Woolshed; the cottages contain period rooms, photo exhibits, archives and meeting rooms.
Membership meetings are usually held at 6:30 PM on the first Monday of the month. There is generally a speaker and/or a theme topic. Further information can be had at the Historical Society's website, http://www.waihekemuseum.org.nz.
