Each term will have a different focus and there will be at least one evening performance to put skills into practice. All students should arrive 5min before the start of the lesson and wear suitable loose clothing for moving around freely and there will be some floor work -- so no best clothes, please! July

  • Th08Jul - Sat10Jul: Raising the Titanics from Smackbang Theatre Co is a magical showpiece that journeys from the present day, back to the golden age of the Maori showband era to reveal what really sunk the Titanics - perhaps the greatest Maori show band never to have existed. Somewhere beneath the oceans of music, mirth and memory lies the truth. This is a homage honoring the Maori entertainers of our past, by bringing their stories of the showband era back to life for audiences young and old so that they can experience (or relive) such an important part of our Maori entertainment history. Raising the Titanics is the type of play that (like ‘Strange Resting Places’) will give us further insight to our past while being highly entertaining for all audiences. Embrace the feel-good positivity of this era and be reminded that we as Maori had a great tradition of incredible entertainers that is still thriving today. Tickets $20; Contact Artworks Theatre for bookings: 372-2941msg or ArtworksTheatre@gmail.com @ Artworks Community Theatre
