The Blackpool Boys are Trevor Sommers and Bill Whall. Bill Whall founder of the Auckland Bluegrass and Old-time Country Music club. Banjo and guitar player, Bill moved to Waiheke eight years ago and co-founded the Waiheke folk club which meets once a month.

Trevor Sommers - is a tenor banjo, button accordion, guitar player. He has led a Celtic Ceilidh band for ten years and spent 20 plus years at folk festivals and sessions around the UK. Now resident on Waiheke, Trevor teamed up with Bill 18 months ago to form The Blackpool Boys to continue the tradition of solid roots based music.

Celtic meets Country

Mondays on Waiheke Radio 107.4 and 88.3 FM 8.00 pm – 9.00 pm

A weekly one hour musical showdown (or hoe-down) in which Country music connoisseur Bill Whall battles it out (musically) with Celtic music devotee Trevor Sommers.
