Ameririca's cup skipper and New Zealand defector Brad Butterworth is building a beach front property at Oneroa Beach. The site has twice been issued with stop work notices. The first in December 2007 link Gulf News Article for earthworks and again in April 2008 link Second stop work at Butterworth site Gulf News> the site is also now known as Brad's Pit. The site was once home to the Waitemata Swimming and Surf Lifesaving Club.
