Peninsula Estates philosophy is simple. To make world class, premium red wine. Wine that can be cellared confidently for many years, wine to be enjoyed with good food. We believe that great wine is made in the vineyard with careful canopy management and an eye to detail. Our wines are truly handcrafted.

Located on Waiheke Island and situated high on a northern point which juts out into the Hauraki Gulf, Peninsula Estate is one of the most picturesque vineyards in New Zealand. To the east are the sands of Oneroa Bay, to the North Rakino Island and Great Barrier, and to the west, Auckland city lies hazy in the distance, some 25km away.

Waiheke Island enjoys a warm, dry ripening season, and the combination of the maritime influence on the climate and good drainage has helped produce the wines that give the Island an international reputation for Cabernet. Syrah is another variety proving it has a big future on the island.

The vineyard was planted in 1986/87 and has seen production spanning 3 decades. These original plantings of cabernets sauvignon and franc, merlot and malbec, also now include chardonnay and syrah
