I'm very interested in this community project and have thought about doing similar for some time now. I've been working on wikis for a long time now and am currently on the Board of Advisors for a large wiki called [WikiEducator http://www.wikieducator.org]. I also run http://auckland.wiki.org.nz a city wiki for Auckland. I also do a bit here, http://en.wikiversity.org/ a project by the Wikimedia foundation.

The thing about wikis is that they're about community, not web pages and sustaining community in these things is really the trick. I think Waiheke can do it and that this could be a fantastic resource ... pity about the domain name ... .com??? shouldn't it be a .org.nz ? hmmm....

I also do a show on Beach Radio called Country Mike's Hauraki Hoedown on Monday nights from 8-10pm (except for this week... i'm currently on holiday in the US) and am very involved in the radio station itself. Check out our blog: http://waihekeradio.blogspot.com

I'm very interested in this community project and have thought about doing similar for some time now. I've been working on wikis for a long time now and am currently on the Board of Advisors for a large wiki called WikiEducator. I also run http://auckland.wiki.org.nz a city wiki for Auckland. I also do a bit here, http://en.wikiversity.org/ a project by the Wikimedia foundation.

The thing about wikis is that they're about community, not web pages and sustaining community in these things is really the trick. I think Waiheke can do it and that this could be a fantastic resource ... pity about the domain name ... .com??? shouldn't it be a .org.nz ? hmmm....

feel free to ask me anything about using MediaWiki, consider me your wikineighbor.
