On the island I do a bit of design and consultation around technologies for developing communities and for education and eLearning; Web 2.0 stuff: blogs, wikis, etc. More of that here: http://www.digitalsynapse.co.nz where I have recently done work on the [[Emma Hughes]] [http://www.weddingsonwaiheke.co.nz Photography Blog], the [http://heydads.co.nz Hey Dads ] web site, and helped out with the [[Jassy Dean Trust]] site. These wikis are more about community, than they are web pages. Waihekepedia can be a platform for the community in ways that we're not anticipating at the moment, and I'd encourage people to get on board in any way that they feel they can - be bold, be experimental, and contribute your bit to a resource for all Wiahekians, present and future.

Involved in more wikis than I care to think about ...

My real name is Brent Simpson, Country Mike is ... well... it's for another time.

I've been addicted to wikis for a long time now so what's one more to work on!? ... I am currently on the Board of Advisors for a large wiki called WikiEducator that is working towards building capacity around the MediaWiki platform (the software that runs this site as well as Wikipedia) for developing Open Educational Resources. I designed part of the WikiEducator front page, community portal page, help page, and introductory -wiki tutorials. I'm also a Custodian at Wikiversity, a project sponsored by the Wikimedia foundation that runs Wikipedia.

Last year I attended the Techtonic Shift Think Tank in Vancouver, a meeting between MediaWiki developers and educators from all over the world to look at how to move the MediaWiki platform forward for the betterment of educators and learners worldwide.

I also run http://auckland.wiki.org.nz a City Wiki for Auckland.

On the island I do a bit of design and consultation around technologies for community, education and elearning; Web 2.0 stuff: blogs, wikis, etc. More of that here: http://www.digitalsynapse.co.nz. I have recently done work on the Emma Hughes Photography Blog, the Hey Dads web site, and helped out with the Jassy Dean Trust site. I am also web guy for Waiheke Radio and soon to be resident Americana DJ.
