Waiheke Marketplace is a community newspaper published every Wednesday, and delivered to Waiheke homes. It is also distributed on the ferries, in Downtown Auckland and at island businesses and tourism outlets. It has its own PropertyLifestyle pullout section and, along with the news, does regular features on summer events, festivals and anything else happening on Waiheke Island. Waiheke Marketplace was first published in May 1998. Due to its strength and reputation, Fairfax Media bought it from publisher Jo Holmes in August 2008 to add to its stable of Suburban Newspapers.
