Good points. I like both categories and red links. Cheers. Hackademic.
Couldn't agree more, Countrymike, about the anonymity. But not sure what you mean. Sign Hackademic 15:33, 31 August 2007 (NZST) to what, my edits? or my talk messages? The username comes up in recent changes. Thanks for bringing your expertise. Welcome to the project. The one who didn't sign the discussion page on the licensing was Bruced, who does the software tweaking. Hackademic.
OK got it now. Will add details on my page. Duh. . . Hackademic 15:34, 31 August 2007 (NZST)
I believe we do have Waihekepedia.co.nz, which points browsers to us, but I agree, org would be better. Will ask my techie friends. Hackademic 16:55, 31 August 2007 (NZST)

Re category Vineyards /wineries, technically there are vineyards that are not or no longer wineries, A Winery doesnt necessarily have a vinyard and vice versa. A subtle point Tihare 14:12, September 9, 2007 (NZST)

Hi Brent - I have copied in some of Chris's stuff so I could link to the priceless audio but have lost the links to properly attribute the stuff - are you able to help me atribute it correctly? thanks in advance (sez da newbie) Bruced
Thanks for that CMike - that's just what I wanted to do after putting a bunch of pages into a new category so people didn't have to check each one. hackademic
Thanks for updating the news CM Tihare 14:58, September 15, 2007 (NZST)
I had a go at adding the parserfunctions, http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/ParserFunctions The plesk box is running ver 4.3.2. When I added the require_once line it screwed up font size. Will discuss it with Bruce Tihare 21:08, September 15, 2007 (NZST)
CM, the Businesslab page, he also put it up as BusinessLAB, then moved the page to commercial, then back to BusinessLAB. That meant anyone doing a search on commercial went straight to businesslab page, Not very sporting inmy books Tihare 09:05, September 16, 2007 (NZST)
I am afraid you are correct, it is however a limitation we will have to live with as the plesk box it is running on does not have php 5, which is required for later versions of mediawike, i think it will be a case of waiting until the new plesk box goes up, build new mediawiki and migrate data, your thoughts?
CM, I see you have done red links for Rocky Bay, Is the rocky bay hall the same as the omiha memorial hall for which there is a page? Tihare 20:59, September 29, 2007 (NZST)

Promotions
I would have thought a bit of discussion before promoting to sysop wuld be appropriate Tihare 22:06, October 9, 2007 (NZDT)
- See my note on the COmmunity POrtal talk. I've known Gadfium as a dedicated editor and maintaner of Wikipedia for a long time (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Gadfium) and his early contributions here in editing and on noting spam have already been constant. If you think this too hasty then revoke and bring up for discussion. Countrymike 22:12, 9 October 2007 (NZDT)
Thanks. A wiki like this with such informal procedures is a joy to work on. I have no problem waiting for a while for people to discuss the matter, but I will delete spam pages and block obvious spammers in the meantime unless someone tells me not to.-Gadfium 22:09, 9 October 2007 (NZDT)
Wikipedia admin protocol states
Administrators, commonly known as admins and also called sysops (system operators), are Wikipedia editors who have access to technical features that help with maintenance. Wikipedia practice is to grant administrator status to anyone who has been an active and regular Wikipedia contributor for at least a few months, is familiar with and respects Wikipedia policy, and who has gained the trust of the community.
No different here IMHO
