Long-dstance runner Mark Bright is one of the island's elite sportsmen, spending many years as New Zealand's ultradistance champion. Several times winner of the island's Wharf to Wharf Fun Run, Mark is an iconic Waiheke figure, seemingly forever running the island roads.
His achievements are many and include first place in the 2001 Riverhead Forest 50km.
In 2007 he placed 15th in the Auckland Marathon.
