The paper was sold to Liz Waters, publisher of Waiheke Gulf News at the end of January 2009 for an undisclosed sum. The paper's future has not yet been publicised.
The Waiheke Week's former shareholders include former National Party president Michelle Boag, her husband and the paper publisher Mervyn Bennett and managing director of Mainfreight NZ and owner of the Pie Melon Bay property Bruce Plesteid.
The paper's editor is long-term resident Heather Wright.
