Hi Gadfium - no, not looking for it - had trouble uploading it. Talked to other admins and they agreed we might try a pic of Waiheke on the main page and see how it went. Was trying to upload a pic of vines in front of Thumb Point but got error meesages instead. [[User:Hackademic|hackademic]]

''Pics from Wikipedia'' - currently I think the answer is no. Wikipedia uses a slightly different license than we do and the two are very slightly incompatible. The good news is though that Wikipedia is changing their license ... soon, but i'll need to check and see if this has actually happened yet. When it does things will be kosher and we'll be able to pinch their stuff :-) [[User:Gadfium|Gadfium]] may know a bit more about the current situation than I do. Hack ... i've been poking around a bit on Wikipedia today and it appears as if the licensing has completely changed now on WP to CC-By-SA 3.0 ... the same license that we are using. So, this means that we can cross-polinate content quite easily as long as we reference/attibute. Articles like Rangitoto could do well under this. Category for Editorial Review

Hack: Concept Digital still sounds a bit like an ad to me ... and I was wondering whether we might come up with a category for things like this, something like "Needs Editorial Review" .. but that doesn't sound like the right label -- i'm reticent of the idea of an 'editorial overseer'; but at least something that allows you and other people who are interested in reviewing content like this to be able to look at a single category to see what needs attention. Any ideas on a good category label for this process? Countrymike 13:33, 15 October 2007 (NZDT)

Edit Wikipedia Week: December 3, 2007

Hack: Take a look at this: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Edit_Wikipedia_Week ... wondering whether you might be interested in doing something on the island to coincide? perhaps an hour long workshop, half looking at Wikipedia, half on Waihekepedia? They have a poster that you can download and print out which we could use to advertise. Would require some kind of a computer lab on the island, or at least a free wireless access point and people bringing laptops? Just a thought. Countrymike 11:19, 22 November 2007 (NZDT)

Uploading pics

Hi Hack, good to catch up yesterday. I did try uploading a pic some time ago but my pic was too large and I don't know how to reduce it's size, or if that is possible. Cheers

Hack, congratulations, thats should be in NEWS shouldn't it??? I did get to the point with pics where I had it almost uploaded but I got the message that the pic was too large, and I don't know how to reduce the size of my pics. Is there a 'Wiki for dummies' book I can get hold of!!

Congrats...
