History
The Surfdale Oneroa Progressive Association was formed in the 1920s and set about building the first Surfdale Hall.
Its popularity for dances and socials saw the hall enlarged. Two tennis courts were added in 1928.
It was demolished in the 60s with a more modern hall built nearby. This in turn was demolished in 1988
The current hall started out as a 20-year-old school building. It was officially opened in September 1989. Next door to the hall is the island's youth centre, The Rock.
