Smelly Nelly is an old dinghy that belongs to Onetangi resident Roger Reardon. In 2008 Roger rowed Smelly Nelly from Onetangi Beach to Mayor Island to raise money for charity. The first attempt resulted in the loss of the support vessel Star Moana and the destruction of Smelly Nelly. Three weeks later Smelly Nelly was rebuilt and Roger completed his mission.
