It's the largest settlement at the eastern end, has a wharf and is the starting point for the Waiheke Island Wharf to Wharf Fun Run. The famous Blue Heron Lodge is adjacent to the wharf. The Orapiu Wharf has been repaired (Oct/Nov 2007). It is one stop on the ferry run between Auckland and Coromandel. The wharf is also a popular fishing spot.
