Oneroa Bay
Oneroa Bay is one of Waiheke's most celebrated beaches and a popular and safe anchorage for boaties seeking shelter from the predominant sou'wester winds.

It is one of Waiheke Island's Windsurfing Spots.

At holiday weekends, in particular Christmas and New Year, the bay at night is a veritable fairy grove masthead lights. Locals sometimes refer to Oneroa Bay as Poo Bay because of all the boats that anchor there. However regulations now mean boaties must not discharge waste within 500m of the shore.

The bay is just below the island's most westerly village, Oneroa. The road along the foreshore, Beach Parade, was for many decades the site of original Waiheke baches but these days they have mostly been replaced by modern homes. The beachfront is one of the most sought-after and expensive locations on the island.

The 10km leg of the Waiheke Coastal Classic starts at Oneroa Bay.

The bay's facilities include toilets, changing rooms and free gas barbecues.

Just sometimes, when a cyclone has passed nearby, Oneroa Bay provides surfies with an afternoon of heaven.
