"This is my page" said Bruce

What do you think about CMike's idea of unlocking the front page? hack

well... i saw a typo. and well... openess is openess ... right? see what happens when you let go of some of the old web ways - walled gardens and the like. if it weren't for spam i'd also say lets allow anonymous editing but unfortunately we'll be spammed to sh!t faster than you can say Whakanewha. As far as i can tell the community has yet to determine (need) a heirarchy or privs like too many locked pages; at some point it may but no reason to do so until that point is reached. Bruce - great to see the front page opened up. I've put it on my watchlist and have also changed my prefs to email out any changes to pages on my watchlist. If there's a couple of people 'watching' like this it's pretty quick to rollback wayward front-page destruction .. and seeing as we don't have anonymous edits on it's usually just a newbie mistake anyways. Thanks Mike - I think it makes sense - we're all keeping an eye on proceedings, which seem to be proceeding very well actually - thanks again for you input and I must catch your radio show - has Barry got the station streaming yet or can we maybe save your shows as MP3?, I plan to incorporate a Flash MP3 player to embed in pages soon and possibly a podcasting system - thoughts ?bruced

Bruce - i've actually been working on getting the stations streaming back up and we've recently been testing it out amongst ourselves; hopefully we will go public with it again soon after my return. We have been doing some podcasts of local musicians and some interviews that you can get via our blog @ http://waihekeradio.blogspot.com - we're using Archive.org for the podcasts. Bruce, when Flower logs in on the same laptop I'm using, she comes up logged in as Flower but when she goes to the chat page she is registered in the chat room as hackademic. weird. Any suggestions?Hackademic 19:10, 7 September 2007 (NZST)

Bruce: here's the page on the MediaWiki site about changing the LocalSettings.php for the new license info. Also adds a footer note about license so would be good to do it here. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:LocalSettings.php#Setting_copyright_for_the_site

The variables should be:

$wgRightsUrl = "http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/";
$wgRightsText = "a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License";
$wgRightsIcon = "88x31.png"; (view the wiki source to see the URL for the image.)

License Implemented as below

How do I categorise a page? Hackademic 13:34, 12 September 2007 (NZST)

To categorise add [[Category:Category Name]] at the bottom . Cheer Bruced 13:42, 12 September 2007 (NZST)

Hey BDG. How do you add that italicised comment next to your changes in recent changes? Tks. Hackademic 17:40, 12 September 2007 (NZST)

Nice blocking bro! hackademic

Bruce Bruce Bruce . . . what has happened to the youtube links? Weird. . . love hackademic

Sorry Hack they will be back in 2 minutes - I am just fixing the RSS feeds and have succeeded so I am putting all the extensions back in now - I had to take them all out them pop them back in one by one to find the culprit Bruced

You're just amazing (swoons in admiration) . . . hackademic

All fixed now Bruced

Still missing from Waiheke High and J to F? hackademic!

Fixed now - one was a caching issue and Waiheke High had the equals sign in front of the Video id :-) Bruced

Look out for anymore - I may have to flush the cacheBruced

Check out the RSS feed below recent changes on the homepage - it's feeding into Outlook and automatically updates whenever a page changes - cool Bruced

Bruce: if you can install this extension: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Alxndr/RSS then we may be able to do a tricky little hack where we take the RSS feed from the New Pages page to display a group of the newest pages automagically on the front page... ;-) Countrymike 10:05, 21 September 2007 (NZST)

Done and live on front page Cheers Bruced
