Who indeed is this page for? By the name I'm guessing the community of Waiheke. What should go on this page? I'm not sure but I'm hoping the community of Waiheke Island can tell me

Self Reliance Initiatives

By the time our supplies of cheap and abundant oil become expensive and scarce will we have a made smooth transition to forms of society that allow us to meet our needs with grace and style?

There are a number of initiatives on this island already which acknowledge that Peak Oil, along with climate change, are issues that are likely to impact us in the near future, we are talking years, not decades. In a meeting held at the Palm Beach Hall on September 25th, 2007, people watched some video clips of Rob Hopkins speaking about Transition Towns. It seemed to the circle gathered there, that an inventory of these initiatives would be a useful thing to record.

An exciting development in the world of planning for a lower energy future is the Transition Towns movement - see www.transitiontowns.org.nz and in particular the Waiheke page of this site.

Waiheke Why Wait: An event was held in Morra hall on March 15th to explore the possible issues of the triple crunch of Peak Oil, Climate Change and Economic Collapse on the well being of the Waiheke community. Many areas were explored, and after a dotmocracy voting process we agreed to focus on three priority areas: Waste, Transport and Food.

Waiheke Does It Better: The Campaign to keep Waiheke's Waste Resources in local hands was lost to the decision makers in Auckland City Council in July 2009. The people of Waiheke Island, however, still hold true their intention to do things better: to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste, to support local community efforts and realise that together, people are greater than they are just by themselves. Community Supported Agriculture, UNESCO Biospheres etc... Ilya Volykhine

A page was created for Ilya Volykhine last month, possibly by the artist himself or by a relative. The page makes no claim to any association between Volykhine and Waiheke, and the author hasn't responded to a query on their talk page. Does anyone know if this is a legit article on someone with Waiheke connections? In the absence of any evidence/assertion along those lines, I'm inclined to delete the article as being outside Waihekepedia's scope.-gadfium 18:19, 6 December 2009 (NZDT)

There is now a claim "He currently has a studio located on Waiheke Island that is open to the public by appointment during the summer season." which satisfies the residency need as far as I am concerned.
