Chris Brady was a high-profile teacher and philosophising newspaper columnist on Waiheke during the 1980s and 90s on Waiheke. He became the public face of the the often acrimonious dispute over a proposed school uniform at Waiheke High School, an idea he opposed vehemently. Chris was also a founding member of the Blokes Liberation Front, a spoof political movement with an aptitude for exposing the politically correct. Chris' daughter Monica was once interviewed on the Holmes show because of her insistence on her right to wear a shoulderless top to school. For some years he continued to write a satirical column in Gulf News. Chris and his wife Joke eventually left the island.
