John Bridges was a senior journalist on Gulf News in the 1990s and early 2000s. He and his wife Liz lived in Rocky Bay and then Wilma Road. They moved to West Auckland when John left the newspaper to take up a role in health publishing
John is the uncle of English actress Kate Winslet, who would stay with him on Waiheke when she needed a break from the life of a star.
