Ongoing Events on Waiheke Island:

  • Right Now! Waiheke Does It Better: Campaign to keep our waste resource managed on the island. "The tender for the management of our transfer station is currently open to bidders... and there is a real danger that the Auckland City Council - and in particular the City Development Committee - will vote for an Australian-owned company to manage our waste. If this happens, jobs will be lost and all our recycling will be transported - unsorted - off the island and added to the huge rubbish mountain accumulating in Auckland." If you want don't want this to happen, make your voice heard. Remember, all that’s needed for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. Do something today: grab the postcards or simply go to www.WaihekeDoesItBetter.org.nz and send emails instead.
  • Thursdays 7:30-9pm: Afro/Latin/Brazilian Dancing: Contact Tania for more information: 027-654-3651. Entry by koha. @ Artworks Community Theatre
  • Sundays 6-8pm: ASK Youth Church & Concert. For more information, see their website.

Upcoming Events on Waiheke Island:

April

May

  • Fr08May 7pm and Sa09May 2pm: Letteracy: "It was called "Flora’s Hairy Chest" – a goat-skin trunk that contained all of our family secrets; a litter of letters, left like worded crumbs to mark the path home." Meet Emily Post, the Queen of letter writing, etiquette, pole dance with a letter box, see the Tsar's slot and play the game you've got mail… A lively interactive piece of storytelling theatre, stamped, sealed and delivered by story-o-phile and frock-o-holic Tanya Batt. "… It’s an hour-long, one-woman, laugh-out-loud, non-embarrassing audience-interaction show. We left feeling decidedly excellent. Yes, there is interaction. No, you are unlikely to feel embarrassed if you are chosen!" @ Artworks Community Theatre
  • Sa09May 8pm: Sika Encore: Sika sold out last year's "Lightning Man" concert, so make sure you get in early this time! Experience the power of the ancient didjeridoo, Native American flute, drums, voice and percussion with internationally acclaimed performer and recording artist Sika. This very unusual concert has stirred up quite a following here in NZ, as well as in the UK, USA and Australia. See www.caitlinsika.com for more details. @ Artworks Community Theatre
