* Fr04/Sa05/Su06 Jul, Fr18/Sa19 Jul: Waiheke Choral Society's ''Last Panto at Little Oneroa'': In December 2005, the Choral Society produced one of its most popular shows, ''Last Tango in Little Oneroa'' (also based on a David Tristram play), about a moribund drama society that resorts to bizarre and hilarious measures to restore its lost glory. Now our heroes are back again — and in trouble again — so they come up with a plan for a blockbuster pantomime. But with a questionable plot, a passel of irritable actors and a herd of wild kids, can disaster (and hilarity) be far away? Come find out... * Th17Jul: Tenzin Choegyal in Concert: Tenzin Choegyal's voice and musical talents are uniquely beautiful as he draws on his traditional Tibetan roots to create his original and authentic musical compositions which express his devotion to his roots. Since his debut in 1997, Tenzin’s cantering rhythms, extraordinary vocal ability and flute has become a fixture of World Music.  Recently, a listener described hearing Tenzin Choegyal sing live as “heaven on earth.” His voice and music, however, are only part of his amazing story. Tenzin was born in Tibet, escaped to Nepal and was raised in exile in Dharamsala, India. As a child, Tenzin would listen to his mother singing in the nomadic style of Tibet and he attributes much of his passion for his music to her. His musical concerts and tours often include education on Tibetan culture and history. With this concert, Tenzin is fundraising for the Jam Tse Dhargyey Ling Trust Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Centre in Whangarei.  [http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=F.25466b97-e959-4c0d-857e-e6c576da267c&hl=en_GB View Poster]

Artworks Theatre logo

Artworks Community Theatre is not simply a performing arts theatre; it is a community-owned, volunteer-run, multi-purpose venue which is able to be claimed as "home" for a variety of Waiheke groups. The Snug is a relaxed and intimate venue with couches and comfortable seating for up to 20 people, and is ideal for poetry recitals, book clubs, study groups, club meetings, etc. The Auditorium (includes the stage) may be hired separately for larger group activities and performing arts, or may be hired along with the Snug for exclusive use.

The Theatre has a licensed Café and EFTPOS facilities available for special events.

We are bringing new energy and enthusiasm to the Theatre by creating a completely new administrative structure — where many hands will make light work — to ensure the brightest of futures for this wonderful community asset. The Incorporated Society has now been established and is accepting members. If you're into performing, children's theatre, lighting, direction/production, set design or construction, sound, front of house, administration, makeup and wardrobe, backstage, special effects, or providing that essential component of performing arts — the audience! — get in touch and we'll send you a membership form.

Visit our website at www.ArtworksTheatre.org.nz or, for enquiries about the Theatre, coming events, or to book tickets, email ArtworksTheatre@gmail.com or leave a message on 372-2941.
