Artworks Theatre is not simply a performing arts theatre; it is a community-owned, volunteer-run, multi-purpose venue which is able to be claimed as "home" for a variety of Waiheke groups. The Snug is a relaxed and intimate venue with couches and comfortable seating for up to 20 people, and is ideal for poetry recitals, book clubs, study groups, club meetings, etc. The Auditorium (includes the stage) may be hired separately for larger group activities and performing arts, or may be hired along with the Snug for exclusive use.

The Theatre has a licensed Café and EFTPOS facilities available for special events.

Regular Events:

  • Sunday Circus (7pm most Sundays; on summer break until Feb08)
  • Folk Music Club (7pm 1st Wed of each month; on summer break until Feb08)

Upcoming Special Events:

  • Music from the Inside Out (Documentary Film) Premiere and Theatre Fundraiser (12 Jan)
  • An Evening @ Artworks: An open evening showcasing what Artworks Theatre is all about — celebrating the performing arts. A variety of sets from various performance genres will be punctuated with information about the vision for the future of the Theatre and how the new incorporated society will help to manifest that vision. There is still room for a few more performances (3-5 minutes long or so — no longer than 10min). We would welcome songs, skits, dances, musicians, poetry readings, mime, comedy, martial arts demonstrations, circus acts, prestidigitators... You name it! If you would like to contribute to the performances in some way, please let me know as soon as possible by ringing me on 3456. If you know someone else who might like to be included, please let them know! (18Jan).
  • Waiheke "Embrace Youth" Fundraising Concert (19 Jan)
  • Waiheke Cinema Trust Short Films (20Jan)
  • Waste Resource Trust showing the Junk to Funk DVD (21Jan)
  • Law of Attraction Workshop by Pam de Frere (24Jan)
  • Comedy on Waiheke (25/26 Jan)
  • Marian Burns Variety Show: "NZ's Fastest Fiddler" (09 Apr)
  • Sika's Lightning Man Tour (18 Apr)
