- Fr/Sa 16/17Apr 8-9:30pm: Guitar & Gloves: a gorgeous duet of guitar and lyrical contemporary dance. Dancer-choreographer Jennifer De Leon has performed throughout NZ and around the world: recent performances including Tempo, the Auckland Dance Festival 2008 and as a key presenter/performer at the Int'l Australasian Association for Theatre, Drama & Performance Studies (ADSA) Conference in Perth in 2008. Kevin Timm is South African-born and brings to his music a spaciousness reminiscent of the vast African veldt. This combination of Jennifer’s dance and Kevin’s music tells of a ‘synchronous serendipity’ as the two artistes have choreographed, composed and woven their expressions together. It is suitable for all ages! Five works comprise the program, closing with “Somewhere over the Rainbow” with whimsy and grace. Bookings on 372-2941 or ArtworksTheatre@gmail.com, or at the door. @ Artworks Community Theatre

- Th29Apr - Sat01May: Ngā Manurere follows Manawa’s (Nicola Kawana) journey to reconnect with the son Morehu (Pana Hema-Taylor) she gave up through whangāi. Supported by her closest friends Wai (Keisha Castle-Hughes), Rina (Lana Garland) and Jess (Renee Maihi) who are all single mothers, the women are tied together by roots and friendship; but each secretly harbors her own view on Manawa and the son to whom she is a stranger. At once funny and shocking, the play explores the everyday experience of being a solo mum with honesty and humor. It also reveals a terrible truth that exposes the danger of emotional silence. @ Artworks Community Theatre
